High-End classy makeup is nothing without a good base, so it is essential to take care of your skin. You can look stunning with not so expensive makeup on good skin. But it is not necessary to go to fancy salons to get those regular facials which cost a lot of your time and money. You can do it at home. Follow the below steps to give your skin a few extra minutes of care and treatment time, and it will thank you.
1. Massage
Gently work the oil into your face, not forgetting your neck and under your chin and spend a good minute or so massaging this in with your fingertips. Wet your hands to turn the oil into an emulsion and go over the face again, gently massaging all areas, especially around the t-zone, forehead, and chin, then rinse with warm water. The cleansing oil is worth spending a bit of money on, you don't use it daily, so it should last ages, and the benefits of good oil will make all the difference.
2. Steam
Think of when you get a facial at a spa and that hot steam blasting in your face for five or more minutes. It’s not there just to warm you up, but to also open your pores so they are relaxed, ready to release toxins, and prepared to soak up all the goodness you’re going to apply to it.
By far, our favorite way to steam my face is over a bowl of boiling water. Take a large pot and add an inch of filtered water (preferably chlorine-free; otherwise, you’re dosing yourself with chlorine vapors). Put the pot on the stove until it comes to a boil. Immediately take it off the stove and to where you will be doing your facial. Lean over the pot and take a dishcloth or hand towel and place it over your head as well as over the bowl (this is most comfortable when sitting down), like you’re creating a tent for the vapors to steam into.
3. Exfoliate
Exfoliation is vital for youthful, glowing skin, as it removes dead skin cells from the surface and increases blood flow to your face. After your skin is squeaky-clean, mix two tablespoons of white sugar with one tablespoon of coconut oil and apply this mixture to your skin. Massage the scrub into your skin using circular motions for two to three minutes, working upwards from your neck and under your chin up the sides of your nose and outwards over the forehead coming down the sides of your face, being careful around the eyes. Make sure you get in all the nooks of the face, including on and around the lips, then rinse clean and pat dry.
4. Mask
Your face should already feel much softer and look brighter. Apply any rehydrating face mask no matter what skin type you have, even oily, and relax (in a bath perhaps) for 10-15 minutes. Again, don't forget the neck. Remove the mask with a warm damp muslin cloth softly wiping it off in small motions without dragging your skin. Clay and essential oil are the perfect combinations to get rid of oil without drying out your face.
5. Hydrate
Seal in all the good stuff you just put on your face and protect your skin by using a moisturizer. Smooth on a layer of your favorite night cream, or go the extra mile and apply overnight to help repair damage and deeply hydrate. There are so many good ones out there; keep trying until you find the one that gives you instant perfect glowy skin, and when you find it, stick with it.
