"Don't do this!"

"You are not supposed to do it this way!"

"Trust me. I know it better."

We all have that overly enthusiastic wannabe makeup genius in our friend circle that keeps telling us what is right for our skin and what to do with it. And most of the things that she says turn out to be a total myth. Yes, today we want to bring into light a few myths we have been listening to, that we should stop believing in immediately.

Myth #1: You don't need sunscreen on a cloudy day.

Yeah, we hear it a lot, but clouds can't stop UV rays from reaching the Earth's surface. Also, some dermatologists say that 90% of dark spots, wrinkles, and sagging are as a result of sun exposure. Therefore, it is advisable, not only on a hot day but throughout the year, to make sure to apply sunscreen generously.

Myth #2: Hot showers are good for your skin.

Too much of anything is too dangerous. Hot water isn't good for your skin. Though steam showers are very relaxing, they dry your skin out and can cause rashes and itching on your skin. If you can't give up on hot showers that easily, try to reduce the amount of time you spend showering.

Myth #3: Pop that pimple and get over with it.

A BIIIIIIIIIGGGGG NOOOOOO! Most people don't know that this is the first link in the chain of disaster. We agree that it looks satisfying to pop and press out the puss of a pimple, but it happens that most of the time, the puss goes deeper into your skin when you squeeze it. It will disrupt the skin leading to the increase of infection, even scarring. So Say No to "Make it pop".

Myth #4: You are too young to be using an Eye Cream!

Let's get this clear. IT's never too early to start using an eye cream. The skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of your face, so it highly possible to show signs of aging first around your eyes.

Myth #5: The more you exfoliate, the better!

Exfoliating, aka getting rid of dead cells, is an excellent way to achieve fantastic skin! But too much of anything is dangerous. You must be careful not to overdo it, or your skin gets quickly exposed to all the environmental toxins and sun damage and end up with irritated and red skin. To make sure you don't over-exfoliate, avoid applying too much pressure on your skin.
