A lot of things have changed these days. We are quarantined in our own house, waiting to shine again. Well, let's be careful here, and try not to let these changes take a toll on our beauty. If you miss your regular salon appointments and the pure joy of getting ready for work in the morning, you can take comfort in following a few tips to take care of your beauty at home.
1. Sweat it out:
Align your well-being by taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually. Practice indoor exercises and yoga to get yourself moving, drink 4-5 liters of water, and indulge in activities that give your health various benefits.
2. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize:
We are all washing our hands every few hours with soap and water or sanitizing often. It strips our Skin of its natural lipid barrier by drying out the Skin. That's why moisturize your hands after every hand wash. Use olive oil or coconut oil/ cocoa butter, urea-based creams. Apply on the front and back of your hands.
Skin is the first immune barrier of our body. As skin cells become sluggish, the turnover rate decreases. So, Exfoliate your Skin using gentle home-made scrubs to get rid of dead skin cells once or twice a week and cleanse your face twice a day. Also, do hydrate your Skin.
4. Sunscreen and indoors:
"We are indoors. I don't need sunscreen" Well, not true. UV radiations contain both UVA and UVB, so while UVB cannot penetrate indoors, UVA can. As the radiation from the sun affects us even indoors, apply sunscreen of lower SPF (SPF 26) at least once a day.
5. Increase your Immunity:
Take your daily dose of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Don't forget to take your health drink or smoothie or supplement to boost your immunity. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Lycopene, Ubiquinone are some of the essential immune boosters. Make a smoothie of Orange/kiwi, Apple, Papaya, Tomato, Pineapple with soy milk, etc.
6. Don't forget your hair:
Your hair needs care too, along with your Skin. Don't forget to take care of your mane. You can apply warm coconut or olive oil to your scalp once a week to a fortnight for 20 minutes and wash it off. A hair mask can also be applied to nourish the entire hair length. Mix, 1 egg white (or mashed banana) with lemon juice and 1 tsp oil. Apply to hair and wash off after 10 minutes. This will condition and bring a healthy shine to your hair.
